Why Prayer is So Important

Last night our electricity went out for about 4 hours. The kids and I decided to make the best of it and had a Bible study. We read Matthew 9.

Matthew 9

Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man
1 Jesus climbed into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town. 2 Some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child! Your sins are forgiven.”
3 But some of the teachers of religious law said to themselves, “That’s blasphemy! Does he think he’s God?”
4 Jesus knew[a] what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you have such evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’? 6 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man[b] has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
7 And the man jumped up and went home! 8 Fear swept through the crowd as they saw this happen. And they praised God for sending a man with such great authority.[c]

The part that stood out to me was the fact that Jesus saw their faith. There is so much more here, but this is what stood out.

There are times in our lives when we might be sick or we might be going through something hard, and our faith is shaken. When we ask others for prayer who do have the faith, God sees this.

When you are asked to pray, do so. Do it knowing that God is going to move in a powerful way.

I have been learning about faith lately. Not to waver in it, but believing in who Jesus is in my life. It is hard sometimes and my faith does get shaken, but I have seen God move in ways that I never thought possible or answer prayers that I thought that might be impossible. God is a God of the impossible.

If there is something that you are going through, just remember that God is God, no matter what. Just trust that He sees the past, present and future. When Jesus was here on this earth, He endured everything on the cross and knows exactly how you feel and what you are enduring. There is nothing new with God.

God will never leave you and He will not leave you alone. His loving arms are always around you. GOD LOVES YOU more than you will ever know!

Thank you Jeanette! Yes it is powerful to pray the scriptures. My mom was telling about a scripture that she heard prayed by a woman. She is suppose to email it to me so that I can begin praying that over my household. Yes, God is faithful!
